Head Gecko, Marisa Madigan
Marisa is an avid grilled cheese lover and a dog aficionado! This is her second year being involved in NEWTS Orientation and was a NEWTS Orientation Coordinator in 2016. To her, orientation week is a time to not only introduce incoming students to academic life, but as well to introduce students to an inclusive, spirited, and memorable Queen’s experience! NEWTS Orientation week is amazing as it is able to connect students in different years and programs, forming real friendships and connections! She can definitely say she doesn’t hate it! She has been able to spend 3 years working in her faculty association, as well as the Alma Mater Society (AMS). This year she will be the Human Resources Manager at the Walkhome service, one of the many jobs that are hiring this fall (open to NEWTS students!). If she could give any advice to new Queen’s students it would be to make the most of your time at the University, the time will fly by!
Lisa is currently in fourth-year Sociology with short term plans of attending law school, and long term plans of living the happiest life possible. In her spare time, she is either hanging out with pals, listening to music, or eating subway. Along with orientation week, she is a huge advocate for student leadership, friendship, and pugs. I am looking forward to O-Week round four and hopefully getting to meet whoever you are that is reading this!
Social Chair, Aryn Lang
Aryn is a fourth-year Con-Ed student with teachables in English and Biology! In my spare time, you can find me volunteering at the Earth Centre or with Accessibility Queen’s, working at the ARC, and acting as the Vice President External for the Con-Ed Student Association! My favourite study spots downtown include Crave and Parfait! This will be my third time involved in NEWTS Week, as I have been both a Gecko and a Logistics NC! NEWTS Week is honestly such a fun week where I have met so many of my closest friends!
